Renewables and cleantech are essential to the European Union’s green energy transition and economic security. But Europe faces growing global competition, investment gaps, and infrastructure challenges, particularly as China expands its dominance in clean technologies and as public funding constraints increase. The EU’s Clean Industrial Deal sets ambitious targets for electrification and domestic cleantech production. At the same time, the Commission’s proposal for the 2028-2034 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) seeks to de-risk and mobilise significant private and public investment in cleantech through the new Competitiveness Fund.
This event will discuss how the EU can scale up investment in cleantech and electrification, with a particular focus on electricity grids. It will discuss how the 2028-2034 MFF and Competitiveness Fund can best be designed to ramp up investments and crowd in private finance to close Europe’s clean energy investment gap.
Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials
